Lay-By Policy

A lay-by lets you reserve an item and pay for it in instalments over an agreed period. We hold the item (or procure it) for you, and release it once it is fully paid.

What lay-by covers

• Lay-by is available on selected items. Products available for lay-by are marked as such on their product page.
• An item placed on lay-by does not need to be in stock at the time you start — for selected items we procure or restock the item once your lay-by is confirmed (this is how preorders are handled). Expected availability is communicated when you start the lay-by.

Deposit and instalments

• A deposit of at least 30% of the price is required to start a lay-by and reserve the item.
• You choose your payment frequency: weekly, fortnightly (bi-weekly), or monthly.
• You choose your tenure: minimum 1 month, maximum 3 months (the current maximum term; this may be reviewed from time to time).
• We agree a written instalment schedule with you (amounts and dates) when you start.

Price lock

The price is fixed at the amount agreed when you start the lay-by, provided you complete payment within the agreed term. Supplier price changes during your lay-by do not affect your price. If the term lapses and the lay-by is extended by agreement, the price may be re-quoted.

Reservation, completion date, and delivery

• The item is reserved for you and is not delivered until the balance is paid in full.
• Your lay-by has an agreed completion (release) date based on the tenure you chose. The item is delivered on or after that agreed date.
• Paying early does not entitle you to early release, because some lay-by items are procured to fulfil your order and the agreed date reflects when the item will be available. Where we are able to, we may arrange earlier delivery as a courtesy — but this is at our discretion and not guaranteed.
• On the agreed completion date (and full payment), we arrange delivery per our Shipping & Delivery Policy.

Cancellation by you

• You may cancel a lay-by at any time before delivery.
• On cancellation we refund the amounts you have paid, less a cancellation charge of 10% to cover our reasonable costs.
• Refunds are made by EcoCash or your original payment method within 1 to 10 business days of cancellation.

Missed payments

If you miss a scheduled payment, we will contact you to check in. If you wish to continue, you simply continue paying. If you decide to cancel, we refund the amounts paid less the 10% cancellation charge. If you are unable to pay at that moment but wish to keep the lay-by, we will hold it for you. We will not simply keep all the money you have paid.

Defective goods

Your Consumer Protection Act rights still apply to lay-by purchases: if goods are unsafe, defective, or not as described, you retain your right to repair, replacement, or refund (see our Returns & Refund Policy).
